The wall between the Green and Albion Villas Road will be partially renovated on 9th May by a Lewisham-accredited builder. The work will involve removal of the top layers of bricks, their storage for later use, and the top layer replaced with some of the same bricks. Lime mortar will be used. It will be very helpful if we could help pay for this with donations to our fund. The original cost was £150, but in order to try to build extra safeguard a top layer of bricks will be put in place which increases the cost to £350.

Donations need not be public or huge but are necessary I’m afraid and every amount will help.
Looking forward to hearing from you

best wishes Ann
Secretary, Friends of Albion Millennium Green

As part of the Capital Growth Scheme Albion Millennium Green is taking part in the national Big Dig Day.

The Green’s participation in this event will be from 10am – 6pm on Saturday 16th March. We can take the opportunity to get some important work done so please come along. It will be helpful if you could let Bruno or myself know if you can.

We’ll be doing some planting and making some more progress towards clearing some brambles and rubbish. Clearing work has begun to expose old hedges and shrubs which can be nursed back to good health so it’s an exciting prospect to watch it all emerge, and to be part of it!

We already have collected some recycled materials, such as gate posts and some timber but we need other materials too such as the gate itself and pathway materials. Any good quality recycled and second hand materials would be welcome. We will be attempting to make the rear entrance wheelchair friendly, so any advice on that front would also help.

Hope to see you some time during the Day, and don’t forget that it is also Open Day at Dacres Wood Nature Reserve just over the other side of the railway line via the iron bridge.
